Senryu – Failed Haiku

Santa Claus
a girl takes sweets
from a stranger

slanting rain
I try to get a word in
edgeways

spilled gravy
he talks over me
at dinner

polling day
the snowman leans
to the left

wallpaper
the layers
of his past
